The subject of tongues continued

We've discussed in a previous post how the biblical doctrine of speaking in tongues (or praying in the spirit) is in line with the Word of God, is the evidence or proof of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and did not stop happening after the Day of Pentecost. But what is it there for? Why do we need to speak in tongues? What purpose does it serve?

1 Corinthians 14:2 says, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries." Not unto men, but unto God. When we pray in tongues, we are speaking directly to God! Not only that, but when we pray in tongues, we are moved of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:11 says, "For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." No one knows the things of God but the Spirit of God, and when we pray in tongues, we pray the perfect will of God as the Spirit gives us utterance.

What amazing capabilities our Father has given us! Not to live through life as "sinners saved by grace", but to be in perfect communion and fellowship with the living God!!!

Not only that, but James 4:8 says, "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." When we pray in tongues and speak to God, He will speak to us! When you are in the secret place, drawing nigh to God, speaking to Him, you will find that the Holy Spirit will show you things that you need to pray for, areas that you need to work on, things you can do to help people, and all number of things.

The Baptism in the Holy Ghost is not a one time thing! It is an everyday, moment by moment, hour by hour, minute by minute decision! A decision to stay full of the Spirit, to walk in the Spirit. Take your place in the anointing! We are living in the end times, and things are speeding up. The momentum is building! These are exciting times to be living in, but living by the power of the Holy Ghost is of the utmost importance. We have to stay in communication with the only one who knows what's really going on. Who could that be? The Beginning and the End! The Alpha and the Omega! He created this world, and He knows how it's going to end. Only He knows what He has planned for you today, tomorrow, and the next day. That is why it is so important to pray in tongues, to stay full of the Holy Ghost.

If you aren't communicating with God, you could miss something vital! You could miss an opportunity to pray for someone that gets healed and turns their life over to Jesus. If you aren't hearing what God has to say, then you can't obey His voice, and you won't hear His voice if you aren't listening.

Have you ever been sitting in a room with a large group of people, or maybe you were sitting with a group of friends, and you just catch part of a conversation? You don't really understand what they're talking about until you hear the whole thing. Don't miss out on what God has to say! I mean, think about it! This isn't Billy Joe down the street who wants to know if he can borrow your lawnmower - this is GOD. Do you really want to miss something HE has to say? He not only created you, but He wants you to be blessed beyond your ability to even contain the blessings!

All you have to do is listen, and obey. Get in the presence of God so you are able to listen! Stir yourself up!

Until next, Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. (Galatians 1:3-5 KJV)
